A Little Batty!!

For this project, I used several dies from Pixi Dust Designs, including the Holiday Snack Treat Box die set, Oct. 31st Sentiment die set, Bat Lollipop Holder Die Set, and Interchanageable Oval Bag Topper die set. I paired those pieces with the Spooky Halloween 6x6 Pattern Paper Pack from Paper Rose Studio. The combination of black cardstock, purple Halloween pattern paper, and the soft pink accents gives the treat box plenty of Halloween personality without needing a lot of additional embellishment. The pattern paper does a lot of the decorative work, which is a great reminder that a small piece of patterned paper can make a big impact on a 3D project.

One of my favorite design decisions was using the bat from the Bat Lollipop Holder in a slightly unexpected way. Rather than using the entire die-cut piece, I cut it in half so I could feature a single bat on the front of the treat box. This is such a simple modification, but it completely changed how I could use the die. I think this is a valuable lesson for any cardmaker or paper crafter: don’t assume you have to use a die exactly as it was designed. If a portion of a die works better for your project, cut it apart! You can also save the unused portion for another project later.
